The Philips Home Safety app (“App”) allows you to monitor & control Philips Home Safety appliance(s) (“Device”). The App uses personal data collected or processed through the App, associated websites, and any Philips Home Safety device that you pair with the App.
This Privacy Notice is meant to help you understand the privacy practices of Philips Domestic Appliances Nederland B.V. (Claude Debussylaan 88, 1082MD, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and its affiliates and subsidiaries in relation to Philips Home Safety products and services, hereafter referred to as “Philips Domestic Appliances”, “our”, “we” or “us”.
You have shown your trust in us by interacting with Philips Domestic Appliances and we value that trust. We are committed to protecting your privacy at all times.
When using the term Personal Data, we mean information that relates to you and allows us to identify you, either directly or in combination with other information that we may have.

We consider the processing of your Purchase and Registration Data to be necessary for the performance of the contract to which you are party.
To improve our products and services over time, help troubleshoot any problem you may have with your Philips Home Safety Devices, and for provision of additional services we may process data including your IP address, Wi-Fi connectivity, Wi-Fi signal strength, feature usage, device configuration settings and frequency of usage.
The video, audio and images from your Device(s) have been encrypted by default, which means it is not possible for anyone to access these without your password (decryption key).
Based on the preferences you have selected in the App and the configuration settings of your Devices, our systems may process video, audio, and images from your Device(s) to allow us to send you alerts, emails, or notifications in certain identified events. This happens automatically (system generated) depending on the settings, which means no actual person is involved in reviewing the content of your Devices.
If you choose to use our cloud storage services, we will capture, process, and retain your video, audio and image data according to your subscription plan.
You can choose to give your feedback, comments, questions, ratings, and reviews in online evaluations (Online Feedback).

We may use this Personal Data to gain valuable insights and to improve our Philips Domestic Appliances pages, products, and services.
We consider the processing of your Online Feedback Data to be based on our legitimate interest.
When you interact or communicate on social media channels/pages/promotions and blogs (e.g. when you click on ‘like’ or ‘share’, when you post and share comments and when you submit ratings and reviews) your Personal Data is processed by a third party that provides social listening services to Philips Domestic Appliances. This means that the third party that provides social listening services will retain a copy of your online publicly available interactions and provide us access to this.
The Personal Data we may collect in this respect, includes publicly available data provided by you in the social media context. This may include data such as: name, gender, birthday or age, homepage, profile photo, time zone, mail address, country, interests, comments, and content you have posted/shared.
We may use this Personal Data to gain insight in the public opinion about us, to be up to date with online influencers, to resolve issues, to improve our products and services, and/or to start a promotional conversation with you (based on questions/requests that you addressed to us or our competitors).
We consider the processing of Social Listening Data in the above context to be based on our legitimate interest.
When you communicate with one of our Philips Domestic Appliances Customer Care representatives by email, phone, chat or in writing, we may process the following Personal Data:

We may do this to improve our Products/Services and enhance the user experience. We may also do this to gain insight into which audiences may be interested in our Products and/or Services.
We consider this processing of your Personal Data to be based on our legitimate interest.
Although it is not intended, we may collect information that could reveal details about your physical or mental health while providing services to you. Such information is considered sensitive personal data. In general, we request you to refrain from sharing sensitive data with us, unless this should be necessary in the given context.

The App may request your permission to access your mobile device’s storage capabilities, sensors or other features (e.g. photos, microphone, contacts, Wi-Fi, geo-location). We require access when strictly necessary to provide the Services as detailed below.
Sometimes a permission is a technical precondition of the operating system of your mobile device. In such case, the App may ask your permission to access a certain sensor or data, however we will not collect such data, unless required to provide the Services.

We are not responsible for the information collection, use, disclosure or security policies or practices of other organizations, such as Facebook, Apple, Google, Microsoft, or any other third party such as app developers, app providers, social media platform providers, operating system providers, wireless service providers or device manufacturers, including with respect to any Personal Data you disclose to other organizations, through or in connection with the Philips Domestic Appliances Pages. These third parties may have their own privacy notices, statements, or policies. We strongly suggest that you review them to understand how your Personal Data may be processed by them.
We may use cookies or similar technologies when you interact with the Philips Domestic Appliances Pages, when you visit our websites, use our social media pages, receive our emails, use our mobile apps and/or connected devices. In most cases, we cannot identify you directly from the information we collect using these technologies.

We will retain your Personal Data for as long as needed or permitted due to the purpose(s) for which it was obtained. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include: (i) the length of time we have an ongoing relationship with you; (ii) whether there is a legal obligation to which we are subject; or (iii) whether retention is advisable considering our legal position (e.g., statutes of limitations, litigation, or regulatory investigations). Upon expiry of the retention period, your Personal Data will be deleted and/or rendered non personal.
Your Personal Data may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers, and by using the Philips Domestic Appliances Pages, products, and services, you consent to the transfer of your Personal Data to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country. In your request, please make clear what Personal Data you would like to have changed, whether you would like to have your Personal Data deleted from our databases, or otherwise let us know the specific nature of your privacy request. For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the Personal Data associated with your account, your email address or other account information, that you use to send us your request, and please note we will verify your identity before implementing your request.
Please also note that we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to submitting your request. There may be residual information that will remain within our databases and other records (e.g. back-up).
If you have opted in and no longer want to receive marketing-related email from us, you may opt-out by clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of each promotional email you receive from us. We will comply with your request(s) as soon as reasonably practicable. It may happen you will still receive a limited number of promotional messages, before the opt out is in effect. Please note that if you opt out of receiving marketing-related emails from us, we may still send you administrative messages, from which one cannot opt out.
If you make use of your choices and privacy rights, you may not be able to use, in whole or in part, certain Philips Domestic Appliances Services.
The Philips Domestic Appliances Pages, our products and services are not directed to children, as defined under applicable law, and it is not our intent to process Personal Data from children. It is our policy to comply with the law when it requires parent or guardian permission before collecting, using, or disclosing Personal Data of children. We encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests.
